From the Huberman Lab podcast.

On getting feedback for a new book concept, Adam suggested the following process:

  1. Writes draft of first chapter
  2. Sends to 5-6 people whom he trusts
  3. Asks for 0-10 score (no-one scores 10)
  4. If average rank is in the 7-8 range, the material is promising, refine
  5. If average rank is the 2-3 range, rethink idea or dramatically rewrite

Other notes

  • On Feedback: there are two groups of people, cheerleaders and critics
  • What you want: a mentor and ask “can you give me advice?” OR to an audience and ask “what’s the one thing I can do better next time?”
